Boiler service

Do I need to get my boiler serviced?

Yes, absolutely – a gas boiler is running pretty much every single day of the year, providing both heating and hot water. Like anything mechanical, it can fail. Regular boiler servicing can, without a doubt, extend the lifespan of your boiler, not only that – potentially save lives.

What we do during a service

  • Test your gas pipework installation throughout your home for gas leaks or any other issues.
  • Test the boilers operation, controls, valves etc..
  • Strip the boiler down in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Clean any parts that require it.
  • Check the boiler for any leaks, water damage, rust or corrosion.
  • Reassemble the boiler and test its operation
  • Check all gas pressures relevant to the particular boiler.
  • Analysis the flue gases using a flue gas analyser
  • Check over all seals, gaskets and flue passage to ensure no products of combustion, gas or carbon monoxide are emitting for the boiler
  • Record all findings on a service certificate, which will be provided to the customer which will include any additional work required or any unsafe situations.

Will a service guarantee my boiler won’t fail during the year?

No, it will not. It will certainly reduce the risk of anything breaking down. One very common problem you can face with a gas boiler is a water leak within the casing. Whilst getting your boiler serviced, this kind of issue can be quickly identified and resolved (sometimes during the service). If you chose not to have the boiler checked a small leak could corrode a hole through the casing within two years. The boiler then would become dangerous and a replacement would be required – just one of the many issues we see on a weekly basis.
